Thailand Armed Forces Day 2016
28 January 2016
To celebrate the Anniversary of the Armed Forces Day of Thailand the Defence Attaché of Thailand Colonel Pannawat and Mrs. Saristha Boonchai hosted a reception in Pretoria. They are pictured with members of the Embassy of Thailand and members of the Thai community in South Africa.
The Royal Thai Armed Forces Day can be traced back to the year 1592. On this day almost 500 years ago, the glorious battles in old traditional wars took place on elephant back between two great warriors, the Thai King and the Burmese crown prince. Since then Armed Forces Day is celebrated to honor them, and also to recognize the brave men and women who sacrifice their lives to safeguard country and freedom.
