Egypt's Squash Players dominate tournament

The SA Open Squash Championship that took place in Pretoria from 8 to 11 August saw Egypt winning both the men's and women's titles.  

Forty players, 22 international and 18 South African athletes competed in the tournament where Professional Squash Association (PSA) ranking points were up for grabs.

Players from Egypt, South Africa, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Portugal, Germany, Serbia, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and Pakistan competed in the tournament.

Farida Mohammed beat Mena Nasser (3-0) in the women's final and Mohammed Al-Sherbini won the men's final (3- 1) playing against fellow countryman Mazen Jamal.

Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to South Africa, Ambassador Sherif Issa, attended the final and congratulated the players. Issa praised the players for their outstanding performance and achievements.  He called on the players to continue their efforts, stressing that they are a role model for the youth in Egypt. Issa also stressed the importance of sports saying it contributes towards building a positive image of Egypt.
