Arab Cultural Week 2018

The 2nd Arab Cultural Week took place in Pretoria from 22 to 26 October 2018. The Council of Arab Ambassadors and the South African Department of Arts and Culture hosted the event in celebration of the Centenary of Nelson Mandela and Jerusalem (Al-Quds) The Capital of Arab culture.

South African Arts & Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa at the opening said, "The Arab Cultural Weeks are a testimony of the commitment to strengthening of cultural relations between Africa & the Arab nations."

The week saw a wide array of activities displaying Arab nation cultures to South Africa while strengthening the bonds of friendship between the Arab League and South Africa. The celebration started with a traditional Arab performance at the South African State Theatre. It included a film festival, art and handicraft exhibition, fashion show and food festival.
