Minister for Small Businesses, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni , represented the South African  Government at the event. She highlighted  the excellent bilateral relationship between  the two countries and the lessons that South Africa can learn from Uruguay, especially in areas like the development of the rural areas and energy resources based on clean technologies.

On the other hand, Ambassador Rodríguez Zavalla said that Uruguay sees in South Africa a huge potential to further develop bilateral relations, based on the historical friendship and that, as a multicultural, diverse country, emerging economy and with reference to the many issues on the continental and international agenda, the possibilities in terms of cooperation, trade, cultural and multilateral issues between the two countries are endless.

The Chairman of the Parliamentary Appropriations Commission, Sfiso Buthelezi and Princess Tirelo Molotequi of the Kingdom of Bafokeng, also attended the celebration.

The national anthems of Uruguay and South Africa were performed delightfully by the Choir of “Pretoria High School for Girls” and Uruguayan wine, meat and cheese were served during the celebration.
