Italian Ambassador's Perennial Trophy Charity Regatta

The first edition of the Italian Ambassador’s Perennial Trophy, an annual charity regatta established by the Italian Ambassador in South Africa Vincenzo Schioppa will be held in Cape Town on Saturday, 23rd November.

The friendly competition is organized under the patronage of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), with the support of the Royal Cape Yacht Club (RCYC), which in that occasion will celebrate the twinning with the Reale Yacht Club Canottieri Savoia of Naples, Italy.

The event will be attended by VIPs, Ambassadors and Consuls, sport stars, artists, representatives of the business community, sailing enthusiasts and most importantly the young
African sailors from the RCYC Sailing Academy and the Izivunguvungu MSC Foundation for the Youth in Simon’s Town.

The aim of the initiative is to share with the youth of disadvantaged communities in the Cape Region the values of friendship, equality and sportiveness related to
the sea, and to support their sailing training.

The RCYC is expecting some 25 yachts on the start line, crewed by a mixture of owners, youth and guests.

A gala party will be held at the Ambassador’s Residence in Bishopscourt to celebrate all the participants.
