Tunisia's grain сollection surpasses five-year average

Over 11.7 million quintals gathered by end of July, with majority allocated for consumption

Tunisia's national grain collection reached approximately 11.78 million quintals by 31 July 2025, exceeding the average figures recorded over the past five years, according to a statement released by the Grain Office. This is reported by Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP), a partner of TV BRICS.

Of the total quantity collected, 94 per cent (11.079 million quintals) were designated for domestic consumption, while 6 per cent (0.702 million quintals) were allocated for certified seed, marking a higher rate than those observed during the same period in previous harvests.

Among the grain collected for consumption, durum wheat accounted for the largest share with 7.538 million quintals, followed by barley with 2.921 million, soft wheat with 0.578 million, and triticale with 43,000 quintals.

The monitoring committees of the Grain Office continue their field visits to oversee storage conditions, monitor the transportation of quantities to the Office's units or their direction to mills, agents, and feed factories.
