South Africa is a start-up

Loyalty to country more than loyalty to party was the message of the 18.6 million voters in South Africa’s 5th general elections. A 73% voter turnout and a free, fair and smooth running of the election was acknowledged by the many international observers and is another feather in the cap for a normalising nation. It also gives recognition to the work of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in South Africa. “South Africa is a start-up,” remarked Ivor Ichikowitz, Chairman of the Paramount Group, the largest independently owned aerospace and defence business in Africa, on its 20th anniversary celebration. He was comparing South Africa to his company.

Barbaros Turkish Naval Task Group visits Cape Town

As a demonstration of the Turkish naval capability and to support the Turkish foreign policy, Barbaros Turkish Naval Task Group will circumnavigate the African continent, making port calls in a total of 26 African states.
The Barbaros Task Group set sail from Gölcük Naval Base on 17 March 2014 and is expected to return to base on 27 June 2014.
They will sail around the African continent in about 100 days, starting from the west coast and conclude on the east coast, conducting port calls and training missions.
On Saturday, 10 May, the Barbaros Task Group made a port call in Cape Town, with three warships docking at the V&A Waterfront in Table Bay Harbour
