Mandela Day Celebrations in Spain by South Africans: Renaming of public park in Mostoles, Madrid after Former President Mandela

The South African Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain and Andorra, Mr Smuts Ngonyama and Mr David Lucas, the Mayor of Móstoles Municipality situated in the south of Madrid, unveiled an official plaque of the renaming of a public park in Mostoles after Former President Nelson Mandela on 17 July 2015 as part of commemorating the International Nelson Mandela Day in Spain.

The South African Embassy is grateful to the Government of Móstoles Municipality, the people of Móstoles, as well as the Government of Spain for accepting the proposal to name such a prominent park in Móstoles after an iconic figure such as Former President Nelson Mandela.
